Cognitive assessments help build a clearer picture of how a person thinks, learns, remembers, processes information and solves problems. They are commonly used when there are concerns about learning, attention, intellectual functioning, or cognitive strengths and challenges. The results can help identify areas where additional support may be beneficial and, where appropriate, contribute valuable information to the assessment of conditions such as intellectual disability or other neurodevelopmental presentations. Findings can also inform recommendations for school, workplace or everyday functioning.

Comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents and adults where ADHD is suspected. Assessments help clarify whether ADHD may be contributing to current difficulties, identify other factors that may be involved, provide practical recommendations, and, where appropriate, support referral to a paediatrician or psychiatrist for diagnostic confirmation and medical management.

Psychological assessments use interviews, clinical observation and standardised assessment tools to better understand a person’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, personality and mental health. Assessments can help clarify the nature of presenting difficulties, guide treatment planning, and, where appropriate, contribute to the assessment and diagnosis of a range of psychological and neurodevelopmental conditions. The type of assessment is tailored to the individual’s needs and referral questions.

Psychological functional assessments focus on how a person’s mental health or cognitive difficulties affect everyday life. Rather than concentrating solely on diagnosis, these assessments examine the impact on areas such as communication, social relationships, self-care, learning, work, decision-making and community participation. They are commonly used to inform NDIS access or planning, support funding applications, and provide practical recommendations that help individuals achieve greater independence and participation in daily life.
